We started the day with a walk to the sesame bread stand for breakfast...after a stop at Family Mart for my daily Taipei Times. They usually have one English paper in their stand every morning. Wonder who buys it when I'm not here?
We pass a flower stand on the way.
It is a lot of work making the sesame bread, egg cakes, and youtiao
But the final result is worth it!
Afterwards, we took a walk through the morning market. The fresh produce is amazing.
Chicken, anyone? Save the beak for me.
Fresh seafood -- still breathing on the ice!
I bought some iced coffee
And Yi-Jiun bought some egg yolk cakes (moon cakes)
And some pickled cabbage.
A short walk down a typical alley way between apartments to a stationary store.
Lunch time at Pulau Redang, a vegetarian restaurant.
I had Java Noodles while Yi-Jiun ordered the Spicy Hot Pot
Momochacha for dessert
Water Tower
After a stop and some shopping at Dollar$ Mall it was time for afternoon drinks. Passion Fruit Tea for me & Pearl Milk Tea for Yi-Jiun!
Tonight was the Weiwuying Grand Opening, the Kaohsiung Center for the Arts -- their answer to the Sydney Opera House. Fancy concert venue...and a good opportunity to practice our selfie skills.
The building looks like a space ship

They had a special exhibit, The Gezaixi Time Machine. Gezaixi is a popular form of Taiwanese opera that dates back more than 100 years.
